A Scope You Can Understand
Before work is agreed, the proposal should identify the premises, access arrangements, documentation and limitations. Inspection, testing, design and repair are distinct tasks. Ask what is included and how any additional work will be authorised.
Standards That Fit The Work
Commercial alarm work is scoped with reference to BS 5839-1:2025, emergency lighting to BS 5266-1:2025 and portable extinguisher maintenance to BS 5306-3:2017. Fire door findings should reflect the doorset evidence and the building’s fire strategy.
The responsible person retains their duties under the Fire Safety Order. Specialist reports support decisions, but identified actions still need to be assigned, completed and recorded.
